Torri Huske caps off Olympics with world record-breaking gold medal swim

Torri Huske finished her Paris Olympics with a world record-breaking gold medal swim.

Huske won the women’s 4x100m medley relay on Sunday and helped the team set a new world record. According to NPR, the team finished with a time of 3:49.63, beating the world record by nearly a second.

The 21-year-old anchored the race, swimming freestyle. She complimented her teammates Lily King, Gretchen Walsh and Regan Smith for giving her a sizable lead.

Team USA beat silver medalists Australia, who have branded themselves as Team USA’s Olympic rivals, by 3.48 seconds, NBC Bay Area reports.

Huske, who swims at Stanford University, has won five medals at the Paris Olympics: three gold and two silvers. In addition to Sunday’s gold medal, she has won gold in the women’s 100-meter butterfly and in the 4×100 mixed medley relay. She won silver in the women’s 100-meter freestyle and the women’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay.
