Sister of Hannah Kobayashi shares new details of disappearance

The sister of Hannah Kobayashi is now saying she has not yet seen Hannah since her disappearance.

The family had announced earlier this week that she had been found safe. However, Sydni Kobayashi now says she’s only talked to her sister but has not met with her, according to Hawaii News Now.

“At this time, my mother and I have not physically seen Hannah. We do not have actual proof of where she is, other than that she is somewhere in Mexico. We have only spoken to her over the phone, and she was allegedly found safe with Larie(an estranged aunt), but at this time, she does not wish to return to us,” she wrote on Facebook.

She said that during Hannah’s disappearance, Larie had become the “self-appointed” spokesperson for the family despite her mother and her asking Larie to “tone down her posts and interviews.”

“In due time, the truth will surface, and we will all get the answers we truly deserve,” Sydni continued. “I stand by the choices I’ve made for my family, and we know where our hearts lie in this. I would never wish this type of experience upon anyone.”

She asked that the public respect their privacy and thanked them for their support and those that “unconditionally shown no judgement since day one.”

In the meantime, the family is offering a refund to anyone requesting it who gave money to a GoFundMe campaign to help find Hannah, reports ABC7.

Claims must be submitted by December 18. The campaign is no longer accepting donations. More than 45,000 had been raised.
