The family of Kenneth Bae is scheduled to meet today with Secretary of State John Kerry, reports Voice of America.
The tour guide and Christian missionary has been detained in North Korea for more than a year, longer than any other US prisoner ever in Korea.
Bae is from the Seattle, Washington area.
Bae’s mother, Myunghee Bae, has also been invited by Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY) to attend tonight’s State of the Union address by President Obama.
The family is expected to discuss what further can be done to win Bae’s freedom.
Also today, U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies’ requested that North Korea pardon Bae due to his poor health, according to Fox News.
