PEP: Wedding Palace Brian Tee says he’s a lover, not a fighter

Wedding PalaceThe Asian American romantic comedy, the Wedding Palace, is how available on line for the first time.

Actor Brian Tee who is of Japanese and Korean descent talked to the Philippine Entertainment Portal on the eve of the movie debuting in the Philippines.

Tee  has had roles in Fast and the Furious, Tokyo Drift; The Wolverine and the TV series Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2. Despite his history with action movies, it’s not who he really is.

I don’t consider myself a martial artist,” Tee said.  “I consider myself an actor first. I don’t do my own stunts. I regard myself as a lover, not a fighter. I work from the inside out. I feel the physicality is all a part of it.”

He says his goal with the Wedding Palace was to make a movie “that’s universal with laughter, that transcends culture.”

He sees the “overbearing parents” portrayed in the movie  as something many can relate to, especially when it comes to the question of marriage.

Tee is proud of the cultural authenticity of the Wedding Palace.

“Tradition is huge in the (Korean) culture and very important to the family and myself. Those gems you see visually in the movie and the elaborate wedding that they pull off are typical. When we were actually shooting the wedding scenes, we weren’t trying to be farcical about it. That is how they go.”

You can read about Tee’s recent marriage, his thoughts on some of his past roles and his passion for doing a comedy in the Philippine Entertainment Portal.
