Executive Order 9066 will be going on national tour through 2013. The installation by artist Wendy Maruyama gets its name from the Executive Order by President Franklin Roosevelt authorizing the imprisonment of Japanese Americans during World War II.
Maruyama recreated 120,000 ID tags, one for each of the 120,000 Japanese Americans incarcerated in American concentration camps during World War II. The tags hang from the ceiling in a simplistic, but powerful message about the wide scope of the Executive Order.
