An historic building noted by the National Park Service for its significance to Chinese American history was among the buildings destroyed in the Napa Quake, reports NBC News.
The Sam Kee Laundry Building was built in 1875 and was part of a landmark court case.
Kee successfully challenged the constitutionality of a city ordinance in 1887 that made it illegal to have a laundry within city limits. (Photo of Sam Kee by Cochise County Arizona Centennial)
It currently houses the Vintner’s Collective Wine Tasting Bar which announced on its Facebook page that it would be temporarily relocating.
