A campaign is underway to persuade Google to honor Asian American civil rights icon Fred Korematsu.
January 30 is Fred Korematsu Day. Korematsu is one of three who challenged the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II. He was unsuccessful at the time and was convicted for defying the order to report to the prison camps.
Decades later, his conviction was overturned by the US District Court in 1983.
The social media activist group 18 Million Rising is urging Google to create a Google Doodle to honor the legendary Asian American leader. They are asking those who support the campaign to contact Google via Twitter, Facebook and other social media.
There are only three days left until Fred Korematsu day, so people who support the idea will have to act fast.
If its too late for this year, maybe the campaign can win a commitment from Google for next year.
