Asia Society: New Photo Exhibition on San Francisco Chinatown

A new photography exhibit on San Francisco Chinatown opened this month at the Chinese Culture Center. The photographs by Maurice Edelstein are from his collection of photos taken over the last four decades and is featured in a recent blog from the Asia Society.

“Maurice is a dear friend to the Chinatown community,” said Jenny Leung, a program associate at the Chinese Cultural Center in San Francisco. His comfort in Chinatown and the trust he has built with his photo subjects is evident in his photographs. Edelstein recalls with fondness when he was the only non-Asian on his high school basketball team. Many of Edelstein’s photographs are part of the permanent collection of the Chinese Historical Society.

The show runs through Feb 2nd.
