State Senator Leland Yee (D-San Francisco) confirmed today that he was the target of a death threat for his support for gun control, reports KGO-TV. That word came on the same day police found more explosives in the home of the man suspected of making the threat, 45-year-old Everett Basham.
Basham has worked closely with Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak and today Wozniak cautioned everyone “not to rush to judgment.”
The California Highway Patrol arrested Basham yesterday at his Santa Clara home.
Today at a news conference in San Francisco, Yee talked about the e-mailed threat against him.
“The author of that particular email specifically stated that if I did not cease efforts to deal with gun violence, that he would assassinate me in or around the capitol,” he said.
