A 24-year-old California man has been arrested for the murder of his girlfriend in a suspected domestic dispute.
ABC7 News reports Frederick Tran is under arrest for suspicion of murder of his girlfriend Ariana Hatami.
Police say Tran hit Ariana in a head with a bottle at the home they shared in Daly City near San Francisco. A friend who asked not to be identified told ABC7 News that the two had a history of domestic violence.
The two worked together at Wells Fargo Bank. Hatami attended San Francisco State University and has been living in the home two years. Tran recently moved in, according to neighbors.
If you are in an abusive relationship, you can call the National Domestic Violence hotline for help. That number is 1-800-799-7233. This hotline is also for abusers who need help as well.
According to the Asian and Pacific Islander Institute on Domestic Violence in San Francisco, up to 61% of AAPI women report being victims of physical or sexual violence sometime in their life. This is two to three times higher than Whites, African Americans, Hispanics, or mixed race people.
In a six year period, there were 160 fatalities reported in API families connected to domestic violence
