Ellen Pao, who gained both fame and notoriety when she unsuccessfully sued Venture Capital firm Kleiner Perkins for sex discrimination, has landed back on her feet.
She has taken a position as chief diversity and inclusion officer of for Kapor Center for Social Impact and a venture partner at Kapor Capital.
“I’ve been a huge admirer in how they think, in their values and in how they bring the hard work to these hard problems,” Pao said to USA Today.
“I see a lot of opportunity in diversity and inclusion,” she said. “Bringing different genders and people of different races and ethnicities onto teams and onto boards has a huge impact on financial performance and improves your product.”
The Center based in Oakland is dedicated to making technology and entrepreneurship more diverse and inclusive. The group’s aim is to increase access to capital and STEM education, especially among Black and Latinos.
After her lawsuit, Pao had a shortlived stint as Chief Executive of Reddit. Changes she made in an attempt to temper some of the racist and sexist discussions on the social media site angered many regular users who ultimately revolted against her.
