An assault on a Sikh cabdriver is being investigated as a possible hate crime, reports the New York Daily News.
Harkirat Singh told the paper he picked up a group of four people and when he arrived at the destination, they complained he took them to the wrong place.
When Singh tried to clarify where they wanted to go, he said he got conflicting instructions from the group of three men and one woman.
The group which he described as drunk began swearing and yelling slurs at him.
“They’re using bad words, also. They said, ‘Ali Baba, f–k you,’” said Singh, who moved to the U.S. three years ago.”

The group finally paid their fear and got off the cab, but Singh says one of the men got back in, punched him in the arm and swiped his turban.
“I’m so afraid. I don’t want to work,” Singh said.
