You can’t necessarily judge a film from its trailer, but Okja which will make its U.S. debut on Netflix has a fascinating child-like premise with the intensity of an action thriller.
The film from South Korea’s Bong Joon Ho made its world premier at the Cannes Film Festival.
It stars An Seo Hyun as a child who befriends a genetically modified super pig destined to becomes someone’s dinner.
Okja also brings with it the star power of Jake Gyllenhaal and Tilda Swinton.

Many actually booed the film during a press screening at the Cannes Film Festival. According to USA Today, Okja’s debut was marred by technical difficulties that forced the presenters to stop the screening and hit reboot.
That was on top of the controversy over whether a non-theatrical film should be eligible for Cannes prestigious Palme d’Or honor.
The film also takes on the additional controversial topic of animal rights.
Steven Yeun makes an appearance. The film includes English and Korean dialogue.
