An Asian American political operative has been fired after leaving a racist comment about Blacks on Facebook.

According to Kings County Politics, Warren Chan was responding to a post by New York Assembly member Yuh-Line Niou about the overwhelming number of Blacks who voted for Doug Jones in the Alabama Senate race.

Next Shark posted a screen grab of the thread.

Chan, who worked on the transition team for Brooklyn City Councilmember-elect Justin Brannan was immediately fired.

“Warren’s comments were reprehensible and vile,” said Jonathan Yedin, Brannan’s transition committee director. “He was removed from the transition committee immediately.”

Niou also added to the condemnation.

“Bigotry and racism are never acceptable, and it is critical that we call out hatred and prejudice when we see it,” said Niou. “I resent the attempt by a member of our Asian community to undercut the unity between our Asian American and Black communities. As minorities, we face many different challenges but also have a lot in common when it comes to a history of oppression in America.”

Chan, who is the executive director of Asian Community United Society and Chinese Political Club of Brooklyn, apologized.

“I want to apologize to everyone that was offended by my recent social media comment ‘in language only,” wrote Chan. “I want to re-emphasize the social media post is my opinion and statement only.”
