Family Wants Answers in Death of Deer Hunter

The family of a man killed during a hunting trip in Michigan is pleading to the public to help find his killer, reports the Lansing State Journal

His family gathered in front of the state capitol in Langsing to generate publicity for the case.

“It has been five days since the incident, and it seems that there are more questions than answers,” said Joseph Yang, the family’s attorney. “That is why we’re turning to the community and asking for the help of everyone.”

WILX reports family members became worried when he did not return home and found him shot.

“It is fairly rare but you do need to be extremely cautious when you are hunting,” said Bath Township Police officer Avery Lyon.

Police believe Yang was shot while on state-owned property while legally hunting for deer.

The family believes he was shot accidentally, but that someone is trying to cover it up.

“Right now, until we get more information, the family is saying we believe it was some type of hunting accident,” Joseph Yang said. “Whether (someone) shot him because they thought he was a deer or some type of animal, or it was a shot misplaced, we don’t know.”

A Go Fund Me page set up to raise money for a reward fund in this case has raised more than $5,000.
