A young girl with her mother at a donut shop became frightened when another customer began making a disturbance. The girl began crying and that’s when the shop owner tried to calm the woman, reports CBS LA
Surveillance video shows the woman throwing hot coffee on the stunned shopkeeper.
“I actually asked her to quiet down because she was scaring the girl, or leave, and she said eff you and just threw the coffee at me,” said Cindy Seam-Kao.
She describes the woman as homeless and mentally ill. The patron has been in the shop before, but this is the first time she caused a problem.
“I did not expect for her to throw coffee at me,” said Seam-Kao to CBS LA.
She says she now has second thoughts about allowing the homeless to frequent her shop.
“I think like people are talking about it and tired of it but we can’t do anything about it,” said Seam. “It feels like we have less rights than they do.”
Seam-Kao did not suffer serious injury.
