Sculptor Maya Lin best known for designing the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC has returned to her home town of Athens, Ohio to refurbish one of her early works.
The Dayton Daily News reports Lin returned to Ohio State to assist to replace 43 tons of shattered glass in her work, Groundswell.
She completed piece in 1993 and it was her first outdoor specific work. Lin lived in Athens at the time where her immigrant parents both taught at Ohio State University.
t’s a very big important work for me,” she said. “I love it. It has an ephemeral quality.”
