Sports and business legends spoke at a women’s conference at the SAP Center in San Jose just before the Shark’s hockey game on Monday, reports NBC Bay Area.
Kristi Yamaguchi, an Olympic gold medalist figure skater, and Brandi Chastain, a 2-time Olympic gold medalist and 2-time Women’s World Cup champion, headlined a panel at the conference organized by NAWBO, National Association of Women Business Owners.
The theme of Monday’s event was “Women In Sports: Changing The Game”. Panelists spoke not only about their experiences as athletes but also offered advice on how to navigate broadening one’s skills to advance other pursuits.
According to NBC, Yamaguchi and Chastain, along with the audience, expressed collective admiration for the other panelists. The other guest panelists included Dr. Joan Oloff, a practicing podiatrist who advanced the footwear industry by creating shoes that combine both comfort and style, and Toni Julian, a sports nutritionists who also markets protein bars and meals.
Coach Jill Wesley of the NFL moderated the event. Wesely is also a TEDx Speaker from the Bay Area who collaborates with groups to help athletes develop verbal skills.
The NAWBO conference was reported to have attracted a large gathering of enthusiastic attendees who had the opportunity to ask panelists about raising children active in sports as well as general health nutrition and goal achieving.
