Filipino American reporter called “disease carrier”

A Filipino American reporter in San Francisco taping a segment for an upcoming story became the object of racism from a man passing behind her.

The man interrupted Ginger Conejero Saab of ABS-CBN as she attempted to record something for an upcoming story. For unknown reasons, the man began began screaming “six feet away, six feet away” an apparent reference to social distancing although no one else could be seen near Conejero Saab at the time.

The reporter turned around and pointed at the man suggesting that he himself was standing too close to children nearby and also not wearing a mask.

A little while later, the man reappears. This time he is wearing a mask and calls Conejero Saab a “disease carrier.”

A tweet of the incident has generated more than 75,000 views.
