Senators Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Tammy Duckworth(D-IL) are the odds on favorites to win the Democratic nomination for president, Legal Sportsbetting reports.
The odds maker, Bet Online, lists the two in that order. Harris is not a surprise. She has long been considered a serious contender for the nomination. However, Duckworth has come out of no where after not even being on the radar just a few weeks ago.
The Iraq War veteran and Purple Heart recipient is a Thai American. She is also a working mother of two with strong credentials on national security.
However, another bookie ranks Duckworth just fifth in the VEEPs race.
In a year that there were three Asian Americans running for president, we now have two in contention for the Vice Presidential spot. Harris’ mother is Indian American and her father is Jamaican.
She is currently out in front with her support of a police reform bill in Congress. Bloomberg reports some see that as an audition as the number two on the Democratic ticket.
On Friday she appeared at a fundraising event with Jill Biden.
