Is this my warped sense of humor or is this funny? Hollywood movie directors send scouts out to look for the ideal shooting locations in Chinatown. Scouts are sent out to find the perfect “authentic” Chinese restaurant. And time and time again, the scouts come back to tell their director their vision of the “perfect” Chinatown restaurant doesn’t exist.
When will Hollywood realize their Chinese stereotype is some sort of warped sense of reality.
One scout blogged about his frustrations for Cinema Blend. He wrote:
“Literally every time I get asked to find a Chinese restaurant, it’s the same description. “I want a place with really over-the-top Chinese decor,” our director will say. “Remember that one in Seinfeld? That’d be great.”
I know exactly what he means. There’s only one problem: this is what your average Chinatown restaurant looks like.” You can see it in Cinema Blend
