For the first time, a Korean American woman has won the Top Chef competition, reported Hyphen in its weekly round up of Asian Americans on television.
Kristen competed in a face off with runner up Brooke. Kristen won round one with a chicken liver mousse that the judges described as “very simple, very classic, very you.”
Brooke came back and took round two with her scallop dish. But it was no contest from there as Kristen came back strong with wins in round three and four to take the competition.
Kristen began to tear and vowed her win would inspire her to be both a better person and better chef.
It didn’t go quite as well on American Idol with Juliana Chahayed, Jett Hermano, Gurpreet Singh Sarin & Bryant Tadeo from Hawaii all saying good bye to the competition.
