Houston Rockets starting point guard Jeremy Lin will talk about the racial barriers he has faced in basketball this Sunday on 60 Minutes.
The Asian American talked to Charlie Rose, who previewed the piece on CBS This Morning
“How good were you in high school,” asked Charlie Rose
” I would say I was decent,” responded the modest Lin.
Decent? Weren’t you the best player in California.”
Well, I got that award, but that doesn’t mean I was the best player. I think a lot of that had to do with my team’s success.
Rose asked him why no division 1 college offered him a scholarship. Lin did not mince words
“The obvious thing in my mind was that I was Asian American. That was a barrier. Its a stereotype.”
You can watch the preview on CBS This Morning and the entire piece this Sunday on 60 Minutes.
