Passengers who will be inconvenienced by the closure of Chicago’s Red Line during reconstruction beginning May 19 sot some welcomed news today, reports The Republic.
The Red Line is a popular train route which runs through both Chinatown and Chicago’s Cellular Field and many of those passengers during the planned five month closure will be diverted to the Green Line.
To get ready for the anticipated crush on the Green Line, a 20 million dollars expansion is underway. Improvements include a temporary expansion and track and signal work. Equipment is being upgraded and a new bus staging area is being constructed.
