Food was a hot topic at a candidate’s forum sponsored by the the Asian American Federation, reports the Daily News.
“You actually cannot make kimchi under the health code right now!” City Council Speaker Christine Quinn exclaimed. She has been trying to get Mayor Bloomberg to reform the health code.
John Liu who would become New York’s first Asian American mayor promptly said he would support such reforms.
“Everyone knows how spicy kimchi is,” Comptroller John Liu said when he asked about the Korean classic. “Nothing’s going to grow on that.”
“I look for that duck and the chicken hanging in the window… Can’t find it anywhere!” he complained.
