Indian American students will make up for than a third of the contestants who advanced to today’s semi-finals of the National Spelling Bee Competition, reports the Business Standard.
If one of them wins the competition, it will be the sixth straight year an Indian American contestant has walked away with the grand prize.
The competition began with 50 Indian American contestants, including the youngest entrant.
However eight-year old Tara Singh is not among the semi-finalists.
The semi-finals will be broadcast live on ESPNS2 beginning today at 2 p.m./11 a.m. Pacific.
