Fast & Furious 6 is not only cleaning up in the box office. It was number one in its opening weekend last week.
But according to Seattle film writer David Chen, the film is refreshing for its portrayal of its diverse cast, especially Asian Americans, reports KUOW.
“Race kind of disappears from the Fast & Furious franchise,” said Chen. “In the end what we can say about this movie the race and races of the people kind of disappear.
“Race is a fact of life. I’m an Asian and I feel I blend in well with my different racial brethren. When I see Asian Americans, it’s usually in stereotypical roles It’s rare that you see an Asian character and the fact that he’s Asian goes unacknowledged.”
Fast & Furious 6 is directed by Taiwanese American movie director Justin Lin
