New York City Comptroller John Liu struggle to become the first Asian American mayor of New York city just got a lot tougher.
In yet another setback to his race and his personal life, Liu’s longtime mentor and campaign adviser Bill Lynch has died of kidney disease, reports the Daily News.
Liu who is well behind in the polls with three weeks left before the democratic primary has suffered one setback after another, beginning with the conviction of aides on campaign finance charges to the denial of more than 3 million dollars in matching city funds.
Liu talked about Lynch’s influence on him.
“He always reminded me that running for office is just one part of life, it’s not life itself,” Liu said. “Between his family, and the way he managed his family, that was always a reminder to me.”
