Katy Perry’s new video Dark Horse is being called blasphemous by some members of the Muslim community, reports The Star.
The video depicts Perry playing what some consider an anti-God figure disintegrating a man wearing a pendant that says “Allah.”
An online petition drive demanding that the video be removed from You Tube has collected more than 40,000 signatures.
“The video is considered as highly controversial to its viewers as a result of its portrayal of blasphemy,” the petition reads, adding, “blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of God) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames.”

Controversy is nothing new of late for Perry. She received much criticism from the Asian American community for her depiction of a geisha during her performance of Unconditionally at the American Music Awards.
