1,200 people from all over the eastern United States came to Harvard University for the largest gathering of Asian American students in the country this weekend, reports the Harvard Crimson.
This year’s East Coast Asian American Students Union convention (ECAASU) emphasized the intersectionality of identity politics.
“ECAASU is the Asian American political identity Olympics,” said Diana K. Nguyen, a conference co-director. “We want to have conversations about the new Asian American. We’re really emphasizing this intersectionality—how do sexuality, gender, and citizenship all play into these issues?”
