Fresh Off the Boat will be kicking off the premiere of its third season in Taipei, Taiwan, reports Vulture. The premiere is meant to be reminiscent of the pilot episode, when the Huang family arrives in Orlando, Florida for the first time.
Immigrant parents Jessica and Louis Huang, played by Constance Wu and Randall Park respectively, are described as a “fish out of water” by showrunner Nahnatchka Khan upon their arrival in Florida. When the American-born Huang boys arrive in Taiwan, it is their turn to feel out of place visiting their parents’ home country.
“It’s that idea of not quite fitting into either place, of being both Asian and American,” says Khan.
Tune into ABC on Oct. 11 to explore Taipei’s unique landmarks, cuisines, and street markets with the Huang family.
