Dr. Ken Jeong is set to star in The Emperor of Malibu, a new CBS comedy pilot, Inquisitr reports.
The Emperor of Malibu will star Jeong as Gerry, a Chinese tech billionaire that disapproves of his son’s recent engagement.
Jeong took to Instagram to share his excitement at the upcoming series.
Kevin Kwan, author of the Crazy Rich Asians that inspired the live-action film, will co-write and executive produce the series.
Jeong recently starred in the ABC comedy Dr. Ken, a comedy based on his own life, which ran from 2015-2017. His other credits include Ben Chang on Community, Leslie Chow in The Hangover film trilogy, and a current judge on reality series The Masked Singer.
David Sangalli will co-write the show with Kwan and Michelle Nader, former producer of 2 Broke Girls, Sangalli, Danielle Stokdyk, and Christina Lee, Deadline reports.
