A San Francisco Chinatown socialite who used to publish the San Francisco Examiner is being sued by the city of Hillsborough over the Flintstone House, reports the San Mateo Daily Journal.
The home which can be seen off Highway 280 has been famous for its cartoon-like exterior for decades.
Florence Fang purchased the home in 2017 and recently added a “Yabba Dabba Doo,” sign and several large dinosaur statues without first obtaining the necessary permits, according to the lawsuit.
The city calls the home a public nuisance. The suit contends Fang continued to make modifications even after a stop work order from the city, according to SF Gate.
The Gate reports the home is “a highly visible eyesore” that is “out of keeping with community standards.” Fang was not available for comments.

RE: City Sues Florence Fang over Flintstone House: Eyesore?! It is a wonderful and interesting architecture that most are curious about and all those who have been there are thrilled and filled with oohs and ahhs. I’ve seen some very boring and ugly new ‘modern’ condo buildings going up in the SF Mission that don’t whatsoever match the iconic Victorians we have in our neighborhoods. Those are eyesores! And they are huge eyesores. Now the City has allowed heights to soar as well. San Mateo needs to lighten up.
RE: City Sues Florence Fang over Flintstone House: I’ve always loved this property, since its creation.
I’m really enjoying all the changes that Ms Fang has materialized.
