The political news site City and State New York recently released its list of the most power Asian Americans in New York.
Topping the list is Rep Grace Meng, the first Asian American elected to Congress from New York. She serves on the powerful House Appropriations Committee and is a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee.
The Taiwanese American won her first term in 2012 and is the daughter of Jimmy Meng, the first Asian American to win election to the New York State legislature.
Former State Senator John Liu placed second on the list. He was the first Asian American to serve on the New York City Council.
Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang holds the third spot on the top 100 list. Yang outlasted many well known candidates and remains a force in politics with his Freedom dividend plan which would give every American over the age of 18 a $1,000 per month. Some predict he will run for mayor of New York in 2021.
