Arrest made in attack on pregnant mom in Philly

Members of the Asian American community in Philadelphia are calling for ethnic intimidation charges to be filed against a woman accused of attacking a pregnant woman.

As AsAmNews reported August 6, Jing Chen said she was walking with her daughter when a woman sprayed her with water and then hit her in the face.

ABC6 reports police arrested Delores Marte, a known panhandler, after issuing an arrest warrant for her arrest.

Chen also accuses Marte of uttering racial slurs during the incident. Police have previously said there’s no evidence of the attack being racially motivated.

“What you gonna do, I’m pregnant, are you going to hurt me?’ Chen recalled saying to her attacker, according to Penn Live. “That lady looked at my belly for two seconds, ‘So what?’ She punched me on my face!”

Chen is 9 months pregnant.
