A relatively new band based out of New York, Madlovely, consisting of Melika Dave and Adam Burns, teamed up with singer/songwriter Rolex Rasathy for their recently released single 2K.
When asked about their musical influences, Melika has said that:
“I started watching Bollywood movies at an early age and that largely shaped my taste. Around middle school, my uncle put me on A Tribe Called Quest, and my cousins they would write in their little black books and would rap and stuff, so I just got into some 90s hip, and like Biggie Smalls. My taste like sprouted from those two points. I listened to a lot of R & B. Whatever my cousins were listening to like Frankie J and my aunts were listening to Aventura.A lot of Latin music, some reggaeton but mostly bachata. So those are like the things I was listening too as a child.”
In addition to the collaboration with Madlovely, Rasathy will also be one of the musical guests at the South Asian Block Party fundraiser for uniting Biden and Harris. Rosathy announced her participation on Instagram.
The event will be held on October 14th and will also have special guests including Mindy Kaling, Kumail Nanjiani, Lilly Singh, Aasif Mandvi, Maulik Pancholy, and many more.
