Man arrested in sexual assaults on 23 women near UCLA

Los Angeles and UCLA police late this week announced the arrest of a 32-year-old man in connections with sexual crimes on 23 women.

All the crimes took place in the Westwood area around the UCLA campus since October 23.

“In almost all of the reported crimes, the suspect approached lone females from behind, fondled their breasts or buttocks and quickly fled from the scene. The suspect typically wore a hooded sweatshirt and a surgical type mask which concealed his face,” police said in a statement.

Police booked Derrick Kim on suspicion of sexual battery and are holding him on $575,000 bail, Now Current News reported.

Authorities say they began tailing the suspect and observed him “attack a 50-year-old female transient, by groping her breasts.” They immediately arrested him.

Authorities are encouraging other victims to come forward by contacting LAPD’s elite robbery-homicide division at 213- 486-6910.
