According to reports coming out of Atlanta Georgia, there were eight known people killed in a rash of shootings across three different spas, with six of them being Asian American women. That’s up from the four that police originally said.
Police arrested the suspect about 8:30 pm Atlanta time, according to WSB-TV. He has been identified as Robert Long, who police captured following a chase.
As of late Tuesday night, authorities are saying Long is the suspect in all three shootings.
All of the shootings happened at three spas in relative close distance to each other.
At Gold Spa in Atlanta, a shooter killed three Asian American women, and at Aroma Therapy spa which is across the street, another Asian American woman was also shot and killed.
At a shooting earlier in nearby Acworth at Young’s Asian Massage Parlor, three women and one man were killed and another person injured. No more information about the individuals at Young’s has been given at this time however all three establishments are known to employ mainly Asian American women.
Earlier, sheriff deputies released images of a White male suspect leaving the Young’s Asian Massage Parlor in a black SUV.
They are asking all people to share these photos via their Facebook page.
Atlanta police are increasing patrols in the area and checking in on other spas in the area.
At this time, police have not made a statement regarding motive.
