Two women who attempted to cook and steal dumplings from Xi’an Famous Foods late at night are making amends, New York Daily News reports.
The women entered the store late Saturday night after workers had left for the day. They appeared to be drunk, ABC 7 reports.
Jason Wang, CEO of Xi’an Famous Foods, posted security footage of the women. In the video, the women reason that they are doing nothing wrong because employees left the doors unlocked.
“Are we gonna get in trouble?” one woman says.
“They should’ve locked it so no,” the other woman responds.
The pair left after trying to make dumplings. When workers arrived at the restaurant Sunday morning, they found food scattered everywhere. The incident forced them to close to the public that day to clean, ABC 7 reports.
The restaurant posted about the incident on Facebook, saying they wouldn’t go to the police just yet.
“We haven’t filed a police report yet, and wanted to provide you with a chance to fix your momentary lapse in judgement (and sobriety apparently),” the restaurant wrote. “If you do reach out soon, there’s no hard feelings, and you can continue to enjoy XFF in the future (when we are open, and pay for your food), and this will just be a funny story to tell your friends.”
On Tuesday, July 13, the restaurant updated the post stating the women had provided monetary compensation for the damages. They said only one woman had apologized.
“It’s a start, but I urged them to make video apologies so we can help post their accountability, as this situation is more than just about the impact on our business, but rather what it says about privilege in society,” the post reads.
The restaurant said they replace their original post with the apology videos if they receive them.
“Until then, this post will remain in order to be a place holder to inform people of this development and other development,” the eatery wrote.

Such generosity. I’m so impressed by their choice full response to being perpetrated. I’d support their restaurant and eat there just for that.
