A man stabbed an elderly woman in the back as she walked to her Brooklyn home just one day before her 71st birthday, reports CBS New York.
Fang Mei Lin said it happened near 53rd Street and Eighth Avenue in Sunset Park around 1 p.m. on March 30.
“The doctor said the knife poked her kidney, not all through, it’s just a little bit,” Lin said through a translator.
Her granddaughter provided more detail to News 12.
“Suddenly somebody ran into her and bumped her around the back. At first, she thought that person was just running really fast and bumped her, so her shoulder hurt and then she felt her back and there was blood,” said Karen Lin, Fang’s granddaughter.
There is no motive and no description of the suspect. Lin was not robbed.
Lin underwent surgery at NYU Langone Hospital and is in stable condition.
