A group of activists in Chicago is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the beating of Jin Yut Lew.
They gathered Sunday near the Dan Ryan Expressway close to where a cleaning crew found Lew unconscious on April 7, reported ABC7.
“Someone’s father, brother, grandfather: We have to do something here,” activist Frank Coconate said. “We want to find the people that did this to Mr. Lew.”
As AsAmNews previously reported, his family had been searching for him for days and took to social media to ask for help in locating him.
Finally, a worker at the hospital recognized Lew from photos posted by the family and helped authorities identify him.
He remains in a coma and may have permanent brain damage.
A Go Fund Me campaign set up to pay medical bills has raised $90,000 so far.
The family posted there that the perpetrators carjacked, beat, and robbed their father, leaving him for dead. They also revealed the attackers attacked their father with a blunt object.
Lew worked as a head chef, but due to his injuries, may never be able to work again.
