Man arrested in drug overdose death of two teens

Police arrested a 19-year-old teen accused of dealing drugs laced with fentanyl in the death of two teens, reports KHOU.

Authorities in The Woodlands, TX identified those killed as 17-year-old Grant Blodgett and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Irene Sunderland who was adopted from China.

According to ABC13, police responded to a call of a double overdose at a home where they found the two teens dead. A toxicology report indicated the presence of fentanyl in the victims.

“This is an example of the recent law passed by the Texas Legislature that allows us to charge those who provide illegal narcotics that cause the death of our citizens. Let this be a warning to those who sell illicit narcotics: Montgomery County Law Enforcement is committed to finding you and holding you accountable not only for the selling of illicit narcotics but for the deaths that occur,” Sheriff Rand Henderson said in a statement.

KHOU reports Sunderland’s mother had been planning to take her daughter in for rehab. Police believe both teens had been struggling with addiction for years.

“Definitely shocking there for a minute,” said one student who knew the two. “I was like, wow it’s just crazy.”
