A 75-year-old father was killed in a hit-and-run Sunday evening in Queens, New York.
According to ABC 7, Be Tran was struck by a black BMW while crossing the road around 7:40 p.m. at Myrtle and Seneca avenues in Ridgewood. His daughters believe he was completing his last DoorDash food delivery of the night.
Tran immigrated from Vietnam in the mid-90s, helping to provide for his daughters, nieces and nephews. According to NBC New York, his daughter Ahn Tran recently begged him to stop working, worrying about his safety. She moved back home a few months ago to take care of him.
“He was a very giving man,” she told ABC 7. “He never asked for much. Very simple life. And I just really hope that he’s happy.”
His daughters want justice.
“I think it’s unacceptable, and I really hope the police can find him and justice can get served,” Anh Tran told NBC New York.
A GoFundMe has been started to pay for funeral expenses. It has raised over $25,000 so far.
