Studio Ghibli has released a teaser for Hayao Miyazaki’s final film The Boy and the Heron.
The studio has already released the film in Japan. It is set to get its North American debut at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival this September.
Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli did not release any promotional material for The Boy and the Heron prior to the film’s debut. The recent teaser give hints about the plot but does not include any images. Instead words in white text are displayed against a black background.
“A young boy named Mahito/ yearning for his mother/ ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead. There, death comes to an end,/ and life finds a new beginning,” the teaser reads.
“A semi-autobiographical fantasy/ about life, death, and creation,/ in tribute to friendship,/ from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki.”
