Ring footage captures Asian couple almost getting robbed

A Ring camera recently captured the moment an Asian couple was almost robbed.

According to KOMO News, the footage was taken on the steps of a home in Kent, Washington, on the 23800 block of 135th Place around 1 a.m. It shows a masked man approach the Asian couple from behind.

The couple quickly closes the door right before the suspect is about to enter their home. The suspect contemplates forcing the door open before realizing a Ring camera is recording them. The suspect uses a firearm to break the Ring camera.

KOMO News spoke to the victims.

“I looked and saw a guy over there, right away, I’m so scared, and I ran right away inside and he followed,” the woman told KOMO News. “He pulled the door open, I could see the hand and the gun on top.”

The incident has also recently appeared on a viral Reddit thread, Daily Mail reports.

The Kent Police Department says it is investigating two other incidents that could be related to this recent attempted robbery. They are also not ruling out the possibility that this incident could be connected to a string of home invasion robberies near Seattle that primarily victimized Asian families.

Seattle Police have been investigating the robberies since June, arresting five suspects at the end of September, KING 5 reports.
