The Cleveland Guardians have reportedly hired San Francisco Giants bench coach Kai Correa to join their staff.
The news was first reported by Robert Murray a Major League Baseball insider who writes for FanSided. Sources told Murray that Correa has been hired in an unspecified role.
Correa was the Giants’ bench coach in 2020 and held the role for three years, Sports Illustrated reports. He briefly became the interim manager for the Giants after they fired Gabe Kepler in September.
During a game against the Dodgers, Correa and Dodger Manager Dave Roberts and Giants’ interim manager Kai Correa made history as the first managers/coaches of Asian descent to face each other in any of the four major professional U.S. sports leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL).
Neither Correa, the Giants or the Guardians have spoken out about the recent reports.
