Police search for 2 missing kids after mother found dead

Police in Sacramento, CA are searching for 2 and 4-year-old missing children whose mother was found dead, reports CBS Sacramento.

Authorities suspect the father of Mateo Lee, 2, and Athena Lee, 4, dropped the children off in Southern California and then the SUV he was seen in was driven across the Mexican border. The father has been identified as Camron Lee. He speaks fluent Korean and Spanish.

28-year-old Angelica Bravo, the children’s mother, died July 8th. The cause of her death is pending an autopsy.

“We do know he’s fluent in Spanish, so that helps him move around in Mexico,” Angelica’s mother Dawn Bodea said about Camron Lee, according to Newsweek. “We know that he’s fluent in Korean, and he also has family in Korea that I’m aware of. And so that’s just one of our fears is that he might try to eventually get to Korea.”

The Sacramento Bee reports that family members say Angelica Bravo had been in an abusive relationship with Lee for years. Despite that, they say she always put others ahead of herself.

“Even when things were hard for her, she always found a way, especially for me, to make us happy. She took care of her kids, but she took care of everyone,” said Gil Bravo, her half-brother. “She was the person that you would always want to be around, even when you’re not in the mood. She would brighten up the rooms when chaos was going on.”
