Investigators from the Department of Education Office of Civil Rights Division say they found no discrimination against Chinese American students in San Mateo, CA assigned outside their neighborhoods, reports the SF Chronicle.
The investigation was launched when Chinese American families accused the district of unevenly applying proof of residency requirements against them.
The investigators did not find evidence of that, but did cite the district for not providing bilingual materials for limited English-speaking families explaining the District’s policies.
Lawyers for the Chinese American families say they continue to get complaints and will monitor the District for compliance.
