A customer at a Chinese restaurant in Albuquerque was recorded making a scene after seeing a Buddha statue last Sunday, according to Yahoo News.
A video of the event gained attention on multiple platforms, such as Twitter and the subreddit r/PublicFreakout. The Reddit post has received more than 14,000 upvotes and 1,600 comments.
In the video recording, the man in the blue shirt demands a refund for his food after seeing a Buddha statue, explaining that he is Christian. A few other people, including employees and the manager, can be seen shaking their heads in disbelief as the customer continues to argue.
The customer can be heard saying, “I don’t want the food because you’ve got the Buddha there. I don’t believe in that so I don’t want that.”
The manager of the restaurant responds, “There is nothing I can do for you…. Yeah, I am the manager. That’s racist, and I’m not giving you a refund.”
The customer finally decides to take the food.
Another customer then approaches the man and says, “I don’t want to argue with you, but I’m a Christian too and you’re racist.”
The man continues to complain until a woman in the restaurant yells at him, “Shut up sir! Shut up.”
Many users on Reddit expressed disbelief about the customer’s complaints. Regarding the statue, one person wrote, “Well what did you expect in a Chinese restaurant?”
