New files released by the FBI on late US Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) revealed that he was the target of several death threats, reports Honolulu Civil Beat.
One threat came during the investigation into the Iran-Contra Scandal in the 1980’s. The senator chaired a special committee looking into the affair during which he gained a reputation for his persistent and hard line questioning.
Inouye also spoke out against the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and had to face yet another death threat.
He was also the target of an investigation looking into a suspected bribe from Matson Navigation, but no charges were ever filed.
